Stacks
When working with audio, we often deal with files that have many versions. Be it mix revisions, takes of a performance, or even session-file backups.
In order to make life easier, we've created Stacks so you'll be able to easily keep track of your versioned assets.
What are Stacks?
Stacks are an ordered "stack" of files with the bottom being the first file added, and the top being the most recently added. In Samply, when you share a link to a file, it will always stay up to date with the most recent version.
How do I add versions?
To add a version to a stack, you can simply drag and drop another file on top of the file you want to stack it on.
Note: If you drag two stacks on to each other, the dragged stack will be stacked on top of the stack you dropped it on.
You can also add new versions from the stack preview. You can open this by clicking on the version indicator "wafer". From here, click on "Add version" and select a file.
Finally, you may also drag and drop a new version directly into the File view.
How do I remove versions?
To remove a version from a stack, click the "X" on the version you'd like to remove. This will remove it and place it next to the stack from which it was previously a part of.
Note: Depending on your screen size, you may need to press "Edit" first.
How do I re-order versions?
To re-order, click and drag on the drag-indicator. Your original version names will be preserved so there's never any confusion about which version is which.
Note: Depending on your screen size, you may need to press "Edit" first.
How do I rename versions?
To rename a version, simply click on it's name and type a new one! Note that on mobile, you will need to first enable the edit state as shown in the above examples.
You can now also rename version tags! again, simply click on the version tag and enter a new name!
