Projects
All files in Samply are stored in projects. Each project contains their own file structure and set of users who have access. Knowing how projects work can help you build advanced workflows.
Note
Projects are an advanced concept and not required for basic use. Projects are automatically created for you behind-the-scenes whenever you create a new player from your library. If you just want to share your audio, checkout our quick start guide.
The Project View
The Project View is designed for speed and effeciency when managing your files. This view is not intended for listeners, however we can easily create players (which are intended for listeners) from this view.
Adding Audio
Upload files
Drag audio files into Samply (or use the "+ New" button) to upload them to your project.
You can set a custom order for the audio files by setting the "Sort By" option to "Custom" and then clicking and dragging the files into place. The order you see on this page will be the order the tracks show up in any players you create. Check out this page for more info on managing files within your project.
Import from dropbox
You can automatically import files from dropbox by setting up Dropbox Integration
Record audio
It's primative, but it'll do in a pinch.
Project Settings
Project Settings can be accessed by clicking the gear icon on the top right of your project.
Color scheme
The color scheme chosen in the Project Settings is applied to all players created from the project. Simply hold down the dot on the outer cicle of the color wheel and drag your mouse around the wheel in order to change the color.
Cover artwork
Cover artwork added in the Project Settings is applied to all players created from the project. Artwork can be updated later on individual players as well. Simply click the "+ Upload" button and choose a file from your computer to be used as the artwork.
Collaborators
Collaborators can be added in the Project Settings page by providing an email for the collaborator and selecting whether they should be a Viewer, Editor, or Admin.
Viewers are able to listen and download to any tracks in the project.
Editors are able to reorder tracks, create new players from the project, and change the Player Options for any players created from the project.
Admins are able to update Project Settings, such as color scheme, collaborators, and cover artwork. Admins are not allowed to connect their own Stripe account to any of the player paywalls or delete the project.
Delete a project
A project can be deleted or configured to delete after a specified amount of time in the Project Settings page.
Billing & Ownership
The project's owner is the user who first created the project. Any storage used will be applied to the owner's storage quota.
The owner of a project can trasfer ownership to another user. Simply go to the project's settings and choose "Transfer ownership". When prompted, enter the email address of the person you'd like to transfer ownership to. Once accepted, the new owner has complete control over the project.
