Audio Watermarking

Samply can embed an inaudible watermark into the audio of each share link. This adds a layer of accountability on top of access control: if a track ever leaks, you can trace it back to the exact link it came from.

How it works

When watermarking is enabled, each share link gets its own unique, invisible fingerprint woven directly into the audio signal. Because the fingerprint lives in the audio itself — not in the file's metadata or filename — it survives common attempts to strip it, such as re-encoding, converting between formats, screen-recording, or trimming the file. The watermark is designed to be imperceptible, so it never affects how your music sounds.

Tracing a leak

If you come across a file you suspect was shared without permission, you can upload it to Samply's watermark detection tool. We recover the embedded fingerprint and match it against your links to reveal which specific link the track leaked from — and therefore who it was originally shared with. This makes it possible to identify the source of a leak and take action, rather than being left guessing.
